Akron Man Arrested for December Shooting and Robbery in Cottondale
A West Alabama man is in the Tuscaloosa County Jail this week after he allegedly almost killed a man during a robbery and shooting at an apartment in Cottondale last month.
According to court documents filed Wednesday, a young man was shot several times at Eddins Estates in Cottondale on December 16th, which left him in the ICU for more than a week.
After working the case, investigators believe the man was shot by Deshaun Bryant, a 26-year-old from Akron, Alabama in neighboring Hale County.
According to court documents, at the time of the shooting, Bryant robbed the other man of cash, a cell phone and a firearm.
After establishing Bryant as a suspect, police obtained an arrest warrant late last month and the Akron was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Tuesday.
He is charged with attempted murder and first-degree robbery for the December case and was also charged with two unrelated counts of breaking into vehicles in cases that originated this summer.
He was jailed without bond under Aniah's Law and remained there Thursday morning.
