1 Dead, 1 Critical After Friday Night Double Shooting in West Tuscaloosa
One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a double shooting in West Tuscaloosa Friday night.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media around 11:30 p.m. that the Tuscaloosa Police Department and VCU are on Reece Boulevard in west Tuscaloosa investigating a shooting.
A spokesperson for TPD said the shooting occurred in the 2200 block of Reece Boulevard. The call came in at 11:02 pm.
Sellers said two people were shot, but did not have any further information at the time of publication.
UPDATE: Sellers said around 1 a.m. that one male is dead and another male is in critical condition after the shooting.
The Friday night killing marks the third homicide in Tuscaloosa County in less than a week and the seventh so far in 2024.
Editor's note: The VCU originally reported this shooting occurred at McKenzie Court - the incident happened on Reece Boulevard across from Hay Court and there was no shooting at McKenzie Court.
