Amy Kate Summers - mother, sister, and friend, born March 1, 1970, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and called Tuscaloosa home for 30 years, departed this world on December 21. She was known to many as the proprietor of Subs-N-You and the Downtown Pub until 2020 or as a skilled paralegal. Amy's passing leaves a void in the lives of those privileged to have known her.

Amy was more than a business owner and professional; she was a rock during hard times and a source of joy for others. Her infectious laughter and vibrant spirit had a way of bringing light to even the darkest of moments, offering comfort, support, and humor to those around her.

Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she held a special place in her heart for her son, John. She considered him to be the light of her life and treasured every moment with him.

Amy exemplified loyalty as a devoted mother, a steadfast friend, and a beloved family member. Her determination to tackle challenges head-on, coupled with an unwavering dedication to her companions put her in a class of her own.

Though she will be sorely missed, her legacy of love, resilience, and joy will endure through the memories she created. Amy's departure has left a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she generously shared during her time with us.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be sent to the Innocence Project.
