Alabama Men’s Tennis Welcomes No. 2 Recruiting Class
Head coach George Husack and the Alabama men's tennis program welcome the No. 2 2021 recruiting class according to Tennis Recruiting Network.
The Alabama men's tennis team boasts a veteran roster this season, with 10 seniors and graduate students playing for the Crimson Tide. They have a 4-2 record so far this young season.
"While we are sad to see their chapters come to an end soon, we are excited for this next group of student-athletes to continue the growth of Alabama tennis," Coach Husack said. The Crimson Tide add Enzo Aguiard, Zach Foster, Filip Planinsek, and German Samofalov to their roster this early signing period, a well decorated group.
Aguiard is from Melbourne, Australia. He ranked 10th in the continent of Australia for players under the age of 18 in November 2020. Aguiard says he chose Alabama because everyone has the same mindset to work hard and improve everyday.
Zach Foster is the lone recruit of the class from the United States. He is from San Antonio, Texas, and he finished fifth in the United States Tennis Association National Boys 18s tournament.
Filip Planinsek is a native of Slovenia, where he was a five-time national doubles champion and two time singles champion for his age group. Planinsek claims that the strong connection with the coaching staff lead him to Tuscaloosa.
German Samofalov won the U18 singles and doubles championship in his native country of Ukraine. "Alabama has one of the best sport facilities that I have seen. I was impressed by the entire university infrastructure," Samofalov said.
The incredible job that Athletic Director Greg Byrne and the people of Alabama Athletics have done is finally being recognized in more than just the legendary football program. The Alabama Crimson Tide are a force to be reckoned with throughout all of sports.
As the Heisman Winner DeVonta Smith said it, "We don't stop. We just keep reloading."
