Four Area State Senators Earn Support From Manufacture Alabama
With election year looming, two West Alabama Republican state senators and one Democrat have received the endorsement of Manufacture Alabama, the Alabama Trade Association for Manufacturers.
Selected to be among the 28 incumbents to receive Manufacture Alabama endorsements were:
- April Weaver (R - District 17), Bibb, Shelby and Chilton Counties,
- Gerald Allen (R - District 21), Tuscaloosa and Pickens Counties,
- Senate Minority Leader Bobby Singleton (D – District 24), Tuscaloosa, Greene, Hale, Sumter, Marengo and Choctaw Counties
- Matt Woods (R - District 5), Fayette, Lamar and Jefferson Counties.

“These endorsements recognize incumbent senators in the Alabama Legislature who have been identified by our member companies as strong advocates for Alabama’s
industrial sector,” the trade association stated in a press release announcing their backing.
The organization further explained the endorsements, saying the lawmakers, "...demonstrated their commitment to advancing Alabama’s manufacturing economy by staying engaged with manufacturers in their districts, championing industry priorities during legislative debates, supporting pro-manufacturing policies, and working collaboratively with Manufacture Alabama on key initiatives that impact the competitiveness of the state."
“Alabama’s manufacturing strength depends on leaders who understand industry needs, support free enterprise, and help create an environment where our companies can grow and compete,” wrote Jon Barganier, president and CEO of Manufacture Alabama.
Barganier credited the lawmakers for consistently delivering for Alabama's industrial base.
Earlier this year the organization endorsed former Tuscaloosa resident Young Boozer for re-election as Alabama State Treasurer.
