Senator Gerald Allen Earns Key Endorsement From Alabama Farmers Federation
'Tis the season to be issuing endorsements, political endorsements that is. With the political party primaries just over seven months away, organizations that benefit from backing winning candidates are beginning to throw their support to incumbents and known challengers. Then the pace of backing announcements will pick up after the holidays.
One longtime incumbent garnering such support is Cottondale Republican State Senator Gerald Allen (District 21). The Alabama Farmer's Federation again threw their backing to the Tuscaloosa native in a press release issued Friday.

Allen's legislative work for famer's in both the Alabama House and Senate was credited for the federation's continued endorsement. "He has worked hard to represent our needs in the agricultural community and beyond," Tuscaloosa County Farmer's Federation President John Walker was quoted as saying.
Allen was first elected to the Alabama House in 1994. He then defeated long-serving incumbent Phil Poole, a Moundville Democrat, in the 2010 elections to the Alabama Senate. Allen currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Transportation and Energy Committee.
The 75-year-old Allen and the federation each credit the same conservative values, principals and ideals as the reason for such a good working relationship over the years.
According to the website Open Secrets, the Alabama Farmer's Federation was the third leading contributor to Allen's re-election campaign war chest in 2022.
Allen announced his re-election bid in July of this year. So far, no Republican has mounted a challenge to Allen, but he has drawn at least one candidate to the Democratic Party Primary.
Pickens County native Jodie Minor. The former Carrolton High basketball star spent 20-years in the U.S. Army and deployed twice to Iraq. Retiring as a Lt. Col. Minor was a Legislative Specialist at the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Congressional Affairs Office. The Democrat also has worked as a Legislative Assistant for GOP Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) on Capitol Hill.
The Alabama Statewide Party Primary Election will be conducted on May 19, 2026.
