
Alabama Completes Season Sweep of Auburn; Defeats Tigers 75-68
The Alabama Crimson Tide snapped a five-game losing streak on Sunday as they toppled the Auburn Tigers, 75-68, inside of Auburn Arena.
With this win, the Tide completed the season sweep of the Tigers, after earning a 56-53 home victory on Jan. 2.
The game started out tightly contested as both teams went back and forth, leading to a 15-15 tie at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter started off with the same intensity as both teams struggled to hold a lead. After the Tide went up 29-28 with 3:46 left in the second quarter, the Tigers ended the half on an 8-2 run, taking a 36-31 lead into the break.
Offensively, Alabama saw the most success in the third quarter as they put up 24 points, taking a narrow 55-54 lead into the final frame.
An Auburn three-pointer and layup put the Tigers up early in the fourth quarter, 59-55. The Tide clawed back and Megan Abrams hit a free throw with 5:07 left to tie the game at 63. A Khlya Wade-Warren free throw and a Brittany Davis three-pointer would put the Tide back up by four with 4:18 left in the fourth quarter. Alabama never relinquished the lead for the remainder of the game, securing the 75-68 rivalry win.
Three Alabama players scored in double figures including Brittany Davis (24), Khyla Wade-Warren (15), and Megan Abrams (10). Alabama shot 43.1% from the field.
Auburn was led in scoring by Aicha Coulibaly with 19 points. Auburn shot 47.5% from the field.
The Tide outrebounded the Tigers 34-33.
This marked the sixth straight win for the Tide over the Tigers.
