A decades-old restaurant and store on the bank of the Black Warrior River in Hale County was engulfed in flames Sunday night.

Roebuck Landing Grill & Grocery has been serving fish and selling supplies to residents of Akron and passers by on the road and river since about 1961, according to archival coverage from the Tuscaloosa News.

The Hale County fixture served catfish, shrimp and other seafood plus a wide array of sandwiches, salads and sides

Owners of the restaurant took to Facebook late Sunday night to say they were watching and processing as first responders battled a major fire at Roebuck Landing.

A Monday update said no one was hurt, but the building was destroyed.
