A 77-year-old Oakman man has died from his injuries following a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon along Alabama 69, officials have confirmed.

Trooper Justin O'Neal, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said that the wreck occurred at approximately 2 p.m. Dewey S. Hood, 77, was killed when his 2010 Toyota Tacoma left the roadway. The car struck a ditch, then hit a tree.

Hood was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he succumbed to his injuries later Wednesday.

The crash occurred approximately 14 miles north of Northport near the 169 mile marker.

Nothing further is available at this time as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
