A west Alabama woman was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle accident caused by storm damage in Hale County.

Corporal Reginal M. King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers, said 26-year-old Q’ueentria S. Ward was driving on Hale County Road 42 Sunday night when she struck a tree that had fallen onto the roadway.

King said Ward was in a 2012 Jeep Compass and hit the fallen tree around 10 p.m. Sunday, after heavy rains saturated the area.

The 26-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened on Hale County 42 near Clary Drive, approximately one mile northeast of Akron, Alabama, where Ward lived. 

King said no other information was available on the fatal accident Wednesday morning.
