2 Local Big Lots Among 8 in Alabama Reopening After Bankruptcy
Eight Alabama Big Lots stores, including two here in our coverage area, will reopen in the coming weeks as the discount brand re-emerges from a 2024 bankruptcy.
Nine Big Lots stores reopened across America last week and according to a report from Nexstar Media, a second and third wave will follow after Variety Wholesalers acquired hundreds of store locations in a deal for new ownership.

Nexstar reports the first new wave, on May 1st, will see stores reopen in Athens, Decatur, Dothan and Mobile, Alabama.
Two weeks later, on May 15th, another wave will follow and stores will reopen in Cullman, Guntersville, Jasper and in Northport.
The West Alabama stores are at 5510 McFarland Boulevard in Northport and 1100 Highway 78 West in Jasper.
Other stores may open in June, although new owners have not yet indicated where.
