One person is in the hospital and a house is heavily damaged after a major fire at a home in Tuscaloosa early Friday morning.

In a Facebook post, the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue service said they were called to the scene of a structure fire on 11th Street around 1:15 a.m. Friday.

Upon arrival, they found a heavy fire blazing with flames visible from multiple doors and windows on the front of the house.

One person was inside the home at the time of the fire, but TFR said they were able to escape the inferno and were transported to an area hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

The fire has been contained and extinguished, and TFR said the cause of the fire is under investigation and unknown at this time.
