The Tuscaloosa County School System is looking to hire bus drivers for work available immediately and will host meetings next week for potential candidates to learn more.

TCSS told local media Wednesday morning that they are in need of bus drivers and bus aides. The school system provides all training needed to carry out the job including guiding newcomers to earn a Class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements and a State of Alabama School Bus Operator’s Certificate.

TCSS also said they provide training for those wanting to be a bus aide.

"These positions offer competitive pay, excellent insurance/retirement benefits, and opportunities to earn extra income above your salary," the system said in a press release. "The positions also work well with other work schedules or as a part-time job and align with the TCSS school schedule. Drivers and aides enjoy holidays, summers, weekends, and nights off."

Two information sessions for this unique and critical role within TCSS will be held next Tuesday, May 14th, at 6:30 p.m. and will be held simultaneously. The same information will be shared - interested candidates can simply choose the meeting more convenient to them.

One will be held in the Brookwood High School Lecture Hall at 12250 George Richmond Parkway in Brookwood, and another will be inside the Northport Bus Shop at 3700 68th Avenue in Northport.

Folks can also call 205-342-2636 or email transportation@tcss.net to learn more.
