Joe Douglas Pearson (November 2nd, 1949 – May 2nd, 2024)

Joe Douglas Pearson, age 74 of Moundville, passed away on May 2, 2024 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery with Kirk Pearson officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing.

Joe was born at home on November 2, 1949, in Gordo, Alabama. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Georgia Pearson.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sarah Emily Pearson; two sons Matt (Ganey) Pearson and Ben Pearson of Columbus, GA; his grandson Charlie, son of Matt and Ganey Pearson and brother Billy E. White (Margaret).

A lifelong educator, and servant of God, he also had a love for all things horticultural. Planting and growing was a lifelong passion and he enjoyed sharing his plant knowledge with everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Lynnwood Springer, Freddie Smith, Benny Whitt, Jerry Boothe, Rocky Livingston and Kirk Pearson.
